Announcing the 2013 Water Spots Video Contest

Sacramento County Water Agency is partnering with the Regional Water Authority (RWA) and other water providers throughout the region to sponsor a video contest for high school students. Videos must focus on the selected 2013 water efficiency theme: Check sprinkler systems every month for water-wasting problems and make repairs within 48 hours. Winning spots will be presented on the River Cats Jumbotron for thousands to see and may be part of RWA's 2013 outreach campaign. The deadline to enter is Friday, March 22, 2013. For more information, rules and entry guidelines, visit sacbee.com/water-spots.
The contest is open to high school students in Sacramento, Placer and El Dorado counties plus the city of West Sacramento.

OUTDOOR TIPS:
Watch it! Make sure your sprinkler water is going where you need it. Don’t water driveways or sidewalks and don’t let you water flow into the gutter.
Equip it! Attach automatic shut-off nozzles to your hoses to keep water from flowing freely.
Check it! Check irrigation systems for leaks and repair as necessary.
INDOOR TIPS:
Shut it off! Turn off tap water when performing tasks like brushing teeth.
Update it! When you replace appliances choose water and energy efficient models. Watch the SCWA website for rebates opportunities toward the purchase of "efficient" products.
