Welcome to the Mather Website!
Located in the east area of Sacramento County near Highway 50, the Mather community has grown up around the Mather Airport, located at the former Mather Air Force Base, now decommissioned. The Sacramento Mather Airport, a public airport located on the former air base property, has one of the longest runways in the entire state at 11,300 feet long.

| Building Inspection-Development Services Hours Changing |
Effective November 16, all Building Inspection front counters will be closed on Fridays. Simple building permits may be purchased online, and inspections will be conducted. Note: the Community Service Centers will be open for other business. |

| | Closures along American River |
Due to budget reductions, beginning September 14, 2009, several access sites along the Parkway will be closed to vehicles. Signs will be posted, and visitors may still enter the areas on foot and bicycles. For information on specific access points and alternate routes, view Parks Access News Release. At Upper Sunrise, the road to the cobble beach known as the "fishing access" will be closed through Dec. 31.
Note: The Jacob Lane levee project has been postponed until Spring 2010. |
