Therapeutic Recreation Services (TRS) has been providing award-winning opportunities for children, teens and adults with special needs to explore, learn and have fun since 1975. More than 15,000 people participate annually in the many outstanding programs, receiving training in leisure, social, community and independent living skills.

Our Department’s mission is to provide clean, safe places for Sacramento residents to recreate, including the American River Parkway, Mather Regional Park, Gibson Ranch and the Delta; offer award winning educational programs for children and adults at the Effie Yeaw Nature Center; and provide recreation programs, life-skills training, and social outlets for individuals with disabilities who reside in our community.
