Dead Animals

Dead Animals in the Roadway

Information on Disposing of Dead Animals
Customers in our service area can call 916-368-7387 to have animals in roadways removed. All service calls are prioritized, and public safety is our priority for field services; there may be a wait time of several days before the animal can be removed.

Dead Birds
Because of the potential for West Nile Virus, we are listing information on reporting dead birds.  Please note we do not pick up dead birds as part of our service.

Reporting dead birds helps officials track virus issues. To report a dead bird, call 1-877-968-2473 or visit CA West Nile Virus Website - Dead Bird Online Submission Form.

If the hotline instructs you to dispose of the bird, dispose of properly: wear rubber gloves, wrap and tie the bird in a plastic bag, and dispose of in an outside refuse can.
