What is Fostering?
The shelter takes in many animals who cannot be immediately made available to adoption due to medical and behavioral issues, or are simply too young. Foster/sponsor care providers are essential to giving these animals a chance for a new life by providing temporary care and love in their homes for these special animals.
Caring for animals that are not yet adoptable due to reasons including: - Under-age / un-weaned - Special medical care required - Extra socialization needed
Foster care providers are matched with animals according to their abilities and the animal's needs. Learn more about our fostering program.
Becoming a Foster Care Provider:
Care providers must attend a new volunteer orientation and foster care provider workshop. Training consists of an initial 2-hour Foster Parent Workshop and additional advanced-level classes. Requires basic animal handling skills. All basic supplies and medical care are provided by the shelter.
At the workshop they will receive orientation, training, complete an application and sign a care provider agreement.
