SNIP - Spay Neuter Incentive Program
|
SNIP is a program for cats and dogs of low-income residents in Sacramento County excluding the cities of Elk Grove, Folsom, Rancho Cordova and Sacramento. Qualified residents are given vouchers for surgery to use at participating veterinarians or with shelter veterinarians. There is a limit of 2 SNIP vouchers per household. View SNIP Flyer.
To register, bring proof of low-income status, such as an EBT card or personal income tax return, and your pet to the shelter. *Your pet will be vaccinated and micro-chipped and you will receive a voucher for the spay/neuter surgery. Proof of low income such as EBT card, SSI, WIC, or even income tax statements is required, along with a $20 co-pay. Pay-stubs are not valid proof of income.
*Please note that we do not handle SNIPS on weekends because it so busy. Thursdays tend to be the least busy.
The SNIP Package Includes:
- vaccinations
- micro-chipping
- animal license
- voucher to be used for surgery with one of the participating veterinarians.
For additional spay/neuter resources, the Sacramento Area Animal Coalition (SAAC) has compiled a page http://www.sacanimal.org/spayneuter.html of numerous low-cost and free services throughout Sacramento, Placer and Yolo counties for both owned pets and feral cats. |
