ABOUT OUR SHELTER
The Sacramento County Animal Shelter cares for more than 15,000 stray, abandoned, abused and neglected animals every year. We are one of the largest shelters in California and have been providing critical services to the animals and people of Sacramento since 1964. We are also the only agency in Sacramento County that investigates and prosecutes cases of cruelty, which is a major component of our overall services.
We’ve already lost 44 percent of our staff in the past year, and our remaining 6 kennel attendants care for an average of 318 animals per day, while our remaining 10 field officers cover almost 1,000 square miles of jurisdiction and respond to more than 25,000 field calls each year.
We need your help to continue to shelter and care for these animals, preserve our adoption, volunteer, rescue and foster care programs, and to sustain our ability to provide critical animal services throughout our community.
Please donate today!
