The Fair Oaks Community Planning Commission (also referred to as Community Commissions) serves as the decision-making body over local land-use issues previously decided by the Planning Commission, Zoning Administrator and the Subdivision Review Committee. The seven Commission members are nominated by District 4 Supervisor Roberta MacGlashan, and the Commission is appointed at-large by Sacramento County Board of Supervisors. The Commission meeting schedule:
- Time: 6:30 p.m.
- Date: First Wednesday of each month
- Place: East Area Community Service Center, 5229 Hazel Avenue near Madison

Fair Oaks Village Neighborhood Preservation Area: Adopted by the Board of Supervisors, this plan is designed to protect the unique characteristics of the Fair Oaks Village Neighborhood, view the ordinance .
About The Point at Fair Oaks Project: located on 1.5 acres (currently vacant) at the southwest corner of Fair Oaks Boulevard and Sunrise Boulevard. It is a Mediterranean-inspired architecture with below-grade parking, and two floors above the parking for retail and office uses, for a total of 26,940 square feet of leasable space.
Access is provided by either Fair Oaks Boulevard (one-way access) or Howard Street. In accordance with the Fair Oaks Village Special Planning Area (SPA), development plans must be reviewed by the Fair Oaks Community Commission to determine consistence with the criteria and intent of the SPA.
