Carl Simpson became Chief of the Code Enforcement Division in July 2006. As Chief, his duties include:
Planning, organizing and directing all activities of the Code Enforcement division
Directing and managing professional and/or technical staff
Developing policies and procedures for maintenance and future trends in code enforcement
Establishing priorities based on input from the public and the Board of Supervisors
Evaluating and enforcing codes and developing creative solutions to complex problems
Acting as liaison to community groups, business groups and other county departments
Prior to coming to Sacramento, he was the Code Enforcement Supervisor for the tenth largest city in the nation, San Jose. There he also served as Secretary for the Appeals Hearing Board and drafted Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications equating to half million dollars in annual funding.
Carl holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of San Francisco and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from San Jose State University. He served in the Marines and is married with two children.
