La Sierra Fire Station
On Tuesday, January 13, 2009, the Board of Directors approved the Water Agency's purchase of La Sierra Fire Station at a public hearing. For those with further questions/concerns, staff created a document with answers to the most frequently asked questions.
Project Background
In August of 2008 the Sacramento County Water Agency made an offer for the purchase of La Sierra Fire Station for $525,000 for the benefit of the Arden Park Vista water service area customers. The site would be used to store repair materials for the aging Arden Park water system, such as sections of water pipe, valves and fire hydrants. The water agency conducted an informational presentation at the recreation center in La Sierra Park on Tuesday, September 2 at 7 p.m. For details review the presentation and fact sheet from the meeting.
Since then a public meeting was held on Nov 19 at the Arden Park community Center to continue discussions on the Sacramento County Water agency's proposed purchase or the La Sierra Fire Station. Based on input from the Arden Park community, the Water Agency developed and discussed a draft "Principles of Operation." There were discussions involving minor changes to this document. Water Agency staff will follow up on these recommendations and modify the Principles of Operation if possible.
Water Agency staff also presented some options for fire station improvements and landscaping. A decision on these options will be made after all the preferences are received by December 1.
