Vision Statement
|
It is our belief as employees of Sacramento County Department of Regional Parks, Recreation, Therapeutic Services, that we have the unique opportunity and responsibility to encourage people with disabilities or special needs in Sacramento County to experience an active, healthy, playful, and independent leisure lifestyle.
It is our vision to provide a comprehensive regional recreation program that incorporates commuity recreation programs and networking with other recreation and park agencies. It is therefore our intent to:

Develop in people an awareness and appreciation of leisure

Provide a continuum of services that focuses on abilities, rather than disabilities

Provide a safe environment where people can experience fun, joy and laughter

Encourage people to attain their highest level of leisure independence by:

Teaching leisure skills

Teaching creative and constructive use of leisure time

Improving social and communicative skills

Involving them in program development & evaluation

Making them aware of recreational opportunities in the community

Allowing them to choose their own options in leisure

Prepare them for integration into ongoing community recreation.
This vision, we believe, will enrich the quality of life for all that choose to participate.
