Waste Management and Recycling-Eco Industrial Alternatives

Opportunities for Waste Management and Recycling-Eco Industrial uses are also being analyzed as part of the LUFA Process. Two different tiers of options are being evaluated:

Tier 1 Options include complementary waste management and recycling facilities or operations. Examples include:

• Mixed waste material recovery facility
• Green waste processing or composting
• Construction and demolition material recycling
• Recycled aggregate processing
• Anaerobic digestion
• Conversion Technologies

Tier 2 Options include advanced recycling industries, energy uses and transportation fuels facilities. Examples include:

• Recycled products manufacturing
• Recycled asphalt or cement plant
• Liquefied or compressed natural gas (LNG/CNG) fueling facility
• Green energy technology for heavy users
• Biomass facility or landfill to energy
• Solar energy development
• Bio-reactor landfill options for future cells
• Eco-Industrial research and development
• Economic enterprise zone
• LEED-Ready construction material recycling

The project team will use the information gathered from review of written material and selected interviews to prepare a market overview memorandum that will help develop a land use matrix. The market overview memorandum will summarize general market trends to help identify advantages and opportunities as well as any fatal flaws for potential land uses in the buffer lands.
