Mixed Recycling and Green Waste Contamination
|
- Your collection driver is checking your green waste and mixed recycling containers to make sure that non-acceptable items have not been placed in these containers.
- If contamination is found in your green waste and/or mixed recycling container(s), you will receive a non-compliance letter in the mail notifying you that you are in violation of the Department's Green waste/Recycling Contamination Policies.
- You may receive a small increase in your next bill if we have to empty the container into a garbage truck.
- You will be given two more chances to correct this problem.
- If after the third non-compliance letter, the contamination problem continues, the Department will remove your green waste and/or mixed recycling container(s) and replace it with a garbage container. This will change your level of service and your monthly bill
will increase.
- If your level of service is changed to garbage pick-up only, it will be for a six (6) month period. After six months, you can contact Customer Service, 916-875-5555, Mon. - Fri., 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. to request your mixed recycling and green waste service to be restored.
- The Department works hard to provide our customers with excellent service and low monthly rates. Please remember to sort your garbage, green waste and mixed recycling into the correct containers. By doing so, you will help keep your monthly bill as low as possible.
- If you have questions, please call Customer Service at 916-875-5555, Mon. - Fri., 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. TDD (hearing impaired) please call 916-875-7105; toll free 1-800-932-8990.
