To help promote smart waste management and lifelong recycling habits, we have invested in numerous public art pieces located throughout Sacramento County. Pieces include:
-
A 10-foot-tall hourglass-shaped structure made of new and recycled materials named "Evolution", designed to remind all those who see it of the need to reduce, reuse and recycle. This structure was designed by Grass Valley artist Jenny Hale and was erected at Mesa Verde High School in 2004. This was made possible by working with the school, the students and the community.
-
At the Antelope Crossing Middle School, students and the school teamed with Hale to create a book dragon that is located in the school library.
-
Waste Management and Recycling worked with the Sunrise Recreation and Park District to develop a maze at Rusch Park.
-
A 15-foot structure, consisting of a swirl of steel garbage cans and over-sized aluminum beverage can, designed by Hale, greets visitors to the North Area Recovery Station in North Highlands.
